Samantha Mercak Obituary, Death – Samantha “Sam” Mercak, a vibrant soul and lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19 at her home on Sunday, December 24, 2023, following a prolonged battle with mental health challenges. Born on April 22, 2004, in Worcester, Sam was a distinguished athlete, graduating from Doherty High School with notable achievements in softball, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse.

Sam is survived by her mother, Laurie (Quinn) Mercak, with whom she resided, her father, David Mercak, stepmother Sasha, three brothers – Braden, Lincoln, and Jameson Mercak, all residing in Worcester. She is also survived by her paternal grandfather, John Mercak of Leominster, paternal grandmother Janet Mercak of North Brookfield, beloved uncle Michael Quinn of Worcester, Doug Mercak of North Brookfield, extended family, and many friends, including her closest companions, Ginny and Kristine. Sadly, her maternal grandmother, Barbara Quinn, predeceased her.

Sam’s passion for sports extended across various disciplines, where she excelled in softball, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and snowboarding. Beyond athletics, she found joy in music, photography, and cherished moments at the beach, with Hampton being her favorite, as well as family summers at Old Orchard. Sam was a gifted artist, spending hours expressing herself through drawing, sketching, and painting. Known for her bright smile and kind heart, she will be deeply missed. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours on Saturday, December 30th, from 3 pm to 6 pm, followed by her funeral service. The burial will be a private ceremony.
