Boise, ID (CBS2) — This afternoon around 1:46 PM the roof of the geothermal pool at Givens Hot Springs collapsed.
Owyhee County Sheriff's Office, Marsing Ambulances, Murphy Reynolds Willson Quick Response Unit, and MRW Fire all responded to a call that the roof of the geothermal pool had collapsed and that there were patrons in and around the pool at the time. According to Owyhee County Sheriff's Office, seven people ranging in age from 9 to 70 years old were injured in the incident. First responders were on the scene within eleven minutes of the call and were able to provide medical assistance to those that were injured all of which are said to be in stable condition.
The cause of the roof collapse is still under investigation though one of the owners did tell CBS 2 that it appeared to be caused by a few of the tresses failing. The hot springs will remain closed for the time being though they will be making updates on their website.
Owyhee County Sheriff's office asks that anyone who was at Givens Hot Springs at the time of the incident but left before the arrival of law enforcement officers is asked to contact the Owyhee County Sheriff's Office non-emergency dispatch at 208-495-1154 ext.2 to provide your contact information and report any injuries.
