He was raised alongside his siblings in Heaton Chapel, Stockport.He was 4 years old when he started playing table tennis.When he was 8 years old, Liam Broady participated in his first tournament.He was crowned European Masters under-14 champion in Orbetello, Italy – a title once won by Rafael Nadal – in 2008.Partnering with Tom Farquharson, Liam Broady participated in the 2010 Wimbledon Championships in the Boys doubles and they went on to defeat Lewis Burton and George Morgan. With that, the duo became the first British partnership to win the title since 1995.He defeated Germany’s Robin Kern at Wimbledon in 2011 and reached the semifinals of the boys’ singles. After that, he beat Australia’s Jason Kubler with the match ending 6–4, 6–3 in Liam’s favor to ensure a place in the final. However, he was defeated in the final by Australian Luke Saville with the match ending 6–2, 4–6, 2–6.For the 2012 season, he won the Boys’ Doubles at the Australian Open with Joshua Ward-Hibbert and reached the boys’ semifinals at the US Open 2012 for the first time. He lost against Filip Peliwo 2–6, 6–2, 5–7 in a tightly fought match.In March 2012, Liam Broady reached the number #2 spot in the junior combined world rankings as a junior.As he qualified for the main draw at the 2017 St. Petersburg Open in September, he became the first Team Bath Tennis player to reach the quarterfinals of an ATP World Tour singles tournament. He then went on to finish as runner-up in the Las Vegas Tennis Open, an ATP Challenger Tour event, in October 2017.Partnering with Andy Murray, he played in the 2021 Italian Open (tennis) in Rome in May and the pair beat Australians Max Purcell and Luke Saville in the first round.
